Dirty Monkey Charters started with one boat and a simple idea — take people offshore, put them on fish, and make sure they have the time of their lives doing it. No pretentious yacht club vibes, no corporate nonsense. Just real fishing with real people.
We specialize in deep sea fishing on the Alabama Gulf Coast, with a particular obsession for red snapper. Departing from Pirate's Cove Marina in Elberta, we fish the same Gulf waters as the Orange Beach and Gulf Shores fleet — and with Alabama's 17,000+ artificial reefs, there's no better place on earth to chase big reds. When snapper season opens, our boats run hard, hitting the best reefs, wrecks, and ledges where the fish stack up. But we chase it all: grouper, amberjack, tuna, mahi, wahoo, and marlin.

We Run Out of Historic Pirate's Cove
There's no more legendary place to launch a fishing trip on the Alabama Gulf Coast than Pirate's Cove. Tucked into the protected waters of Arnica Bay in Josephine — just minutes from Orange Beach and Gulf Shores — Pirate's Cove has been a Gulf Coast institution since 1957 and is widely known as the most famous boat-up dive bar on the whole coast.
The weathered old building goes back even further. It started life around 1935 as a Civilian Conservation Corps work camp during the construction of the Intracoastal Waterway, and it's been weathering hurricanes and good times ever since — the spiritual home of the “Riff Raff” and the sandy-floored heart of Lower Alabama beach culture.

A Gulf Coast native who grew up chasing red snapper and grouper on his grandfather's boat. Mike founded Dirty Monkey Charters to share his passion for offshore fishing with anglers of all levels.
